The mother of missing teenager Amy Fitzpatrick had a "very encouraging" meeting in Dublin with the spokesman for the parents of Madeleine McCann.

Audrey Fitzpatrick (40) and her partner Dave Mahon met with former BBC reporter Clarence Mitchell at the Westbury Hotel to seek new ways of raising awareness about the search for Amy.

Clarence Mitchell works full-time as spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann whose little daughter Madeleine was abducted from their holiday apartment in Spain.

Dubliner Amy Fitzpatrick disappeared in Spain on the night of January 1 last while walking to her home in Calahonda from a friend's house on the Costa del Sol.

"We had a very encouraging meeting with Clarence. He flew into Dublin just to meet us and flew back to England a few hours later," Audrey told the Herald today.

"When Clarence appeared on the Late Late Show a while ago, a lot of people were telling him about Amy so he left his number for us to contact him," said Audrey.

"He offered to come over to meet us. It was very good meeting him. He has offered us real help in getting Amy into the British media," she said.

"He was confident he will be able to get Amy's story on the BBC and on Sky and on GMTV too," she said.

"He is doing this just because he wants to help find Amy. We're very grateful to him. We have been trying for a long time to get the British media interested in the search for Amy," she added.

Audrey and her family have been anxious to alert the 200,000 British people living on the Costa del Sol about Amy's disappearance. The British ex-pats mainly use British television channels and British newspapers.

Audrey and her partner are in Dublin for a few days before they return to their home in Spain.

Well kiddywinks there are unsubstantiated reports that the witching hour is approaching for Mister and Misses Scumbag.

If only by the timeline, lets face it the case has to come to some sort of culmination sometime or other, so I can quite easily go along with what's being said around the blogs and boards that the end is nigh.

Add the reports to what seem to be changing attitudes, Sky News opening up the comments and allowing scores of derogatory remarks concerning the sainted ones, and the juxtaposing of of the two articles (see scan) by the mirror.

It's not by happenstance that the two articles are bedfellows, not at at all, quite deliberate in fact and about as subtle as a turd in a swimming pool; the message is clear, the game's up and you're both fooked.

Moving on or more correctly looking back, none of us are likely to forget the world's greatest newspaper the Daily Express folding like Jack high and shelling out half a mil to this grotesque pair.

Bad enough that, but it also facilitated Clarice's finest hour and allowed him to strut around like the buffoon and pompous twat that he is.


Notwithstanding the Express's huge payout, I did at the time think they may be hobbled at present but when the time was right they would come back with a vengeance that would make Shylock look like a philanthropist.

So where am I going with all this? Going through a bad spell of health sometime past and being virtually housebound gave rise to pretty prolific blogging on my part and just one of the groups I used to report on were the batshit crazies of the American Christian right.

My blogging and research took me to places that I never knew existed, not on this earth or Fullers, pretty unbelievable in fact, in fact it was mind blowingly unbelievable just how demented these jezoids really were.

However there are no mistakes in life, only lessons, and one lesson I learnt was to squirrel away into the archives all the batshit crazy madness that makes up Fundamentalist Christian America.

So having gone through this process I thought I would pass on the benefits of just one part of my learning.

MEP Eoin Ryan has said he does not think anyone believes the McCanns were involved in their daughter Maddie's disappearance.

The Fianna Fail politician was speaking in the wake of a private meeting with Kate and Gerry McCann in Strasbourg.

"They are a very strong couple who are doing everything they possibly can to get their daughter back and to make sure it does not happen to anybody else," Mr Ryan told the Herald.

Referring to previous allegations, he said: "I don't think anyone believes that."

He said those allegations have been "poo-pooed".

The McCanns told Mr Ryan that, of all the letters of support they receive, a third of them come from Ireland.

He was meeting the couple in connection with their campaign for a Europe-wide alert system for abducted children.

They were in Strasbourg yesterday to encourage MEPs to sign up to a declaration they hope will help establish the alert system.

Mr Ryan said, in the Madeleine case, such a system would have meant that if she had been taken across the Portuguese border into Spain, the Spanish authorities would have been notified.

"In places like the US, the system is successful.

"Even if it saves one child's life it is worth doing it.

"It is only when something like this happens (Madeleine's disappearance) that you realise the failings of the systems that are in place," he said.

"We had a group meeting yesterday and we urged everyone to sign up to the declaration," Mr Ryan added.

In a press briefing in Strasbourg, the McCanns reacted angrily to suggestions they abandoned and neglected their daughter on the day she disappeared 14 months ago.

So far 226 MEPs have signed up to the declaration but they need another 167 before July 24 -- the close of the plenary session -- to collect the signatures needed to ensure that their proposal, in the form of a written declaration, is sent to the EU president and published.

Kate McCann said child alert systems in the US and France have been very successful.

But she conceded it was very difficult to know if a Europe-wide system would have helped to recover their daughter when she disappeared.

When asked by a reporter if this was because Madeleine had been alone in the house or perhaps abandoned by her parents who were meeting friends nearby, Ms McCann reacted angrily.

"Madeleine was not alone for a few hours.

"The issue here is that a child has been abducted.

"There is a criminal out there, who is still out there. We need to concentrate on the real issue.

"It does not help going over the issues you have just raised," she said.

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time in the small Portuguese village of Luz a party of English and Scots professionals were talking a holiday, a family holiday.

There was one particular couple who were both doctors who were the parents of twins who were not yet two years old and a little girl who was just short of her fourth birthday.

Each and every night of the holiday one parent or the other told the little girl

and

while we go out on the piss.

So off they went even knowing full well that

So endeth chapter one.


I dropped on these titles quite by chance whilst searching for something or other, one or two looked interesting and that they might hold potential, again for something or other.

All the records are from one site, it's possible I could have made a smother more flamboyant story if I had gone elsewhere in search of particular titles but I thought I would take up the challenge and try to create something out that which was at hand.

Is there enough "value" in chapter one that would warrant another chapter or two?

I suppose there are few that have yet to watch this shameless twat in this thirty second clip from Sky, but for those that haven't here you go.

I cannot for a moment imagine how the words of this stupid insensitive culpable piece of trash will go down with all those people, both Portuguese or other that gave up days if not weeks searching for the daughter of this odious pair.

Bad enough they wasted their time searching for a child already dead but to have their help so demeaned in such public manner is beyond the pale.

Something's cooking for sure, this Murdoch owned channel first running with hundreds of negative comments on the Amber Alert story and airing just these few particular seconds out of however long the interview was, ain't no accident, not by a long chalk.

Something is coming down, be it oh so long overdue, but coming down it is.
